Friendship and respect: these are the key words that characterize the life and business philosophy of Luigi Barile, Gino to his friends. The selection of exquisite quality products, the use of fresh marc and the right distillation: these are the secrets of the constant success. The natural and gentle processing allows to extract the nuances so that the essential oils give the product its unmistakable taste. The process of production gives the grappa softness, length of finish and good digestibility. In 2008, the grappa of Gino was awarded as the best grappa in Italy.
Grappa is a grape marc spirit from Italy. It is distilled from the fermented alcoholic press residues of wine production, the pomace. Grappa was first mentioned by name in 1451: a Piedmontese notary bequeathed his descendants a cellar with a distillation plant and large quantities of grappa. Only distillates produced in Italy from the skins of domestic grapes are allowed to bear the name grappa. Any other distillate made from foreign pomace, even if it is produced within the national borders, is not allowed to do so.
