It was not until around 1960 that elderberry was cultivated in Europe. The many positive characteristics of the tree, such as low susceptibility and good frost hardiness, quickly attracted attention, so that the plant quickly gained popularity and today it is hard to imagine the European landscape without it. For our Biotta elderberry juice we use the elderberry variety Haschberg, which is the highest quality and most flavourful elderberry variety. The black berries are harvested and pressed particularly gently and by hand at the end of the summer. This is how a natural juice without artificial additives and the addition of sugar is produced in our manufactory. Due to the gentle production the juice tastes enjoyable and fruity-mild. The German Agricultural Society confirmed the special taste and high quality of the Biotta elderberry juice and awarded it the DLG gold medal.
