A cherry liqueur with a hint of lemon that comes from the middle of Switzerland: the Mount Rigi Liqueur. Made according to old recipes, it should be served as an aperitif.
A popular tourist destination in Switzerland is Mount Rigi, a mountain massif with Rigi Kulm, the highest of six peaks at 1797.5 meters above sea level. Surrounded by three lakes, the Rigi is therefore almost entirely embraced by water. Every summer, crowds of tourists flock to the summit to enjoy the magnificent views. But Mount Rigi is also famous for something else entirely: kirsch, which is distilled from the red, sweet fruit that grows on the towering mountain slopes. The Mount Rigi Liqueur is produced by the Mount Rigi Distillery in Zug according to old recipes, has a slightly fruity citrus note in addition to the typical cherry flavour and should be served ice-cold as an aperitif.
