Oona Caviar - Frutigen (Switzerland)

With a lot of passion, patience and care something unique was created - Oona caviar is the first and only Swiss caviar of sturgeons that grew up in Swiss mountain spring water. At the foot of the Bernese High Alps there is paradise to discover: the Tropical House Frutigen, the production facility of the only Swiss Alpine caviar. The mountain water, the fish farm and the tropical garden - a harmonious trio under one roof and at the same time an innovative energy concept to the power of three. How the Tropic House Frutigen combines tropical ambience, fish farming and alpine surroundings is unique in the world. It is exemplary in its use of closed, resource-saving material cycles and renewable energies.

The Oona Caviar products are carefully processed by hand on site at the fish farm in Frutigen, ensuring a rapid process from fish to can. The focus of caviar quality is deliberately placed on freshness. The aim is to produce honest, authentic caviar that has been stored for as short a period as possible; without any additives or preservatives.

To regard the sturgeon's skin as pure residual material after caviar extraction is not in keeping with the idea of sustainability. Besides caviar and sturgeon meat, sturgeon leather is produced from the remaining skin. Thus the Siberian sturgeon is used 100%.

Consumption: To serve this delicacy with dignity, spoons made of horn, mother of pearl and gold are recommended. These materials do not alter the unique flavour of the caviar. Under no circumstances should silver or metal spoons be used, as they destroy the taste of the caviar.

Handmade Ice Cube - the packaging for fine caviar

A noble product deserves selected, exclusive packaging. This Oona caviar appears embedded in the Ice Cube. Made of clear glass, handcrafted in Switzerland, the cube symbolises the purity of the product and incorporates the philosophy of sustainability in the material. The caviar finds its place in the centre of the cube in the form of a sphere - as the image of a perfect caviar pearl. An ingenious cooling system inside the sphere maintains the ideal temperature of the caviar. Each Ice Cube is unique and handcrafted by Glasi Hergiswil and has its own character.
