What exactly is liqueur? Usually we understand it as a rather sweet drink containing alcohol, but usually not as much alcohol as schnapps. However, there are exceptions. Normally, however, liqueur has an alcohol content of 15 to 35 percent. Liqueur has a long history in Europe, having been produced in the Middle Ages. In those days, however, only rich people could afford liqueur, which was because sugar was very expensive and a lot of sugar was used to produce liqueur. This is still the case today - every liqueur must have at least 100 grams of sugar per litre. When you order liqueur at Kitchencorner, your Swiss delicatessen online shop, you can be sure of a special treat.

Even if liqueur is not as high-proof as schnapps - enjoy this drink consciously and with foresight. Then you will enjoy it much longer. For example from our Liquore alla Camomilla con grappa "Milla", distilled from a camomile flower infusion. For this, ripe camomile flowers are marinated in fine grappa for almost a year. A real highlight and only for connoisseurs!
Since sugar has become affordable, the liqueur has also become widespread in Europe. Today, liqueur is mixed with many different herbs and fruits. You can drink liqueur as a digestif or enjoy it with a sweet dessert, for example with Panettone (available from Oct. - Dec.), Taralli, Tartufi or Cantucci. Enjoy!
